Hornblower Links

Everyone has to have a links page, don't they?  Here are just a few of my favorite Hornblower-related places to visit on the web.  This list is by no means exhaustive.  Have a link that you'd like to submit for posting here?  E-mail me at scaryfangirl@scaryfangirl.com!

HH Discussion Boards/Fan-specific sites

Horatians.org - An easy-to-navigate, all-around fun site with something for everyone in the fandom regardless of whether you're there for the history, the ships or the men.

A&E Discussion Boards - Feel free to visit what used to be THE forum to discuss Hornblower, but you will find that it is quite ghost town-like.  Thanks to A&E's continual "upgrades" and "improvements", most of the members of these boards have migrated to other places such as Horatians.org.

Boardroom - A great site for fans by fans.  Includes pictures from gatherings and actor meetings, archives with song parodies and classic posts long since wiped off A&E's servers.  It's been a while since it's been updated, but it's definitely still worth the visit.

Hornblower-L - A group dedicated to the discussion of all things Hornblower, but most particularly the novels of C.S. Forester.

Archieology 101 - A fabulously hilarious (and remarkably thorough!) study of our dear Mr. Kennedy.  A must see for Crumpeteers and a should see for others.

Ha-H'm: The Hornblower Pages - An in-depth fanpage which focuses primarily on the books.  Includes quizzes, reviews and a small discussion board.  A must-see for book fans.

The Definitive Horatio Hornblower Website / The Definitive Horatio Hornblower Website II - A compilation of all sorts of Hornblower goodies from the movie series (the first website listed contains information on the first two series, the second on HH3).  Includes cast and characters lists and "fun stuff" for HH fans.

Two Evil Monks - A great site which includes a hilarious synopsis of the Hornblower movies and more.

Erie Maritime Museum - The homeport of the US Brig Niagara from War of 1812 fame.  Among one of the most interesting stops on the virtual tour at this site is the Live Firing demonstration video that you can download.  It gives a horrifying idea of the damage that could be done by splinters alone during an action.
